I can tell you that her energy is so beautiful. She’s a loving person and she’s full of fun. One thing you guys should really know about Alena – she’s going to hold it down for her son. Her son is transgender. She sacrificed a lot to move them from Russia to here, and she is grateful for a place where he is accepted.

Puedo decirle que su energía es tan hermosa. Es una persona cariñosa y está llena de diversión. Una cosa que ustedes realmente deberían saber de Alena – ella va a dar la cara por su hijo. Su hijo es transgénero. Ella sacrificó mucho para emigrar aquí desde Rusia, y está agradecida por un lugar donde él es aceptado.
I learned first of all, about love. All this project is mostly about love. Love between people whom you don’t know as you thought. But in five minutes of talking to them, you realize how big a connection you have, even if they are living in some remote place, and you’re divided by hours of driving, you feel so much closer to them.
Alena Lipa
Alena is a LGBTQ+ artist and asylum seeker residing in Manhattan. She is an advocate, supporter and builder for UnLocal Queer Immigrant Justice Project (QJIP) and volunteer of RUSA LGBTQ+ organization.
Alena 是一位正在申请庇护的 LGBTQ+ 艺术家，居于曼哈顿，现任 UnLocal 的酷儿移民正义项目(QJIP) 的倡导者、支持者及建设者，此外她也在 RUSA LGBTQ+ 组织当志愿者。
Alena es una artista LGBTQ+ y solicitante de asilo que reside en Manhattan. Ella defiende, apoya y ayuda a desarrollar el Proyecto de Justicia para Inmigrantes Queer (QJIP) de UnLocal y es voluntaria de la organización RUSA LGBTQ+.
Hawa is part of the Gambian Youth Organization and Tagadou Meedeemandi Kafo, which organizes to help orphans, poor and needy for better opportunities in the USA and the diaspora!

I am a Muslim woman who is getting to know herself better each and every day. No one in this world is perfect and it’s hard to accept that. It’s hard to sum myself up because I am a person that is always improving for the better. I am a person that makes mistakes. I am a person who just wants the best for everyone even when they want the worst for me. I am a person who’s trying to live the best way I should by influencing those around me to try to do the same. I’m just one unique character that tries her best.”
